St.Marys Golf & CC is always improving.  Current project #17 green.  The old 17 green stays playable throughout the process.  Great new #17 should be ready to play late fall 2010 weather permitting.

St. Marys Hospital Golf Tournament

This years event was a great success.

On July 8 we were proud to host the St. Marys Hospital Golf Tournament.  This years event was a huge success with 120 participants.  We would like to thank everyone who attended to support the local hospital. 

St.Marys Memorial Hospital has run this mixed golf tournament for many many years here.  Funds raised go to purchasing equipment to enhance this community asset.

London Free Press: Third hole tough, misleading

Recently John Herbert, a golf writer,  from the London Free Press came and did a signature hole review at our golf course.  Rick Fifield joined them for a hole of golf on Stage Frieght - The Par-4 third hole at St. Marys Golf and Country Club.  They produced a great article and video, we encourage you to follow the link below to see these.

After playing our 18-hole championship golf course John Hubert provides the following accolade:

"Current owners and the third hole have stood the test of time. The club has become one of the best public play courses in Southwestern Ontario and the third hole rates among the best."

Employee Receives Bursary

Community In Bloom Tournament Gives

Communities In Bloom gives bursaries and started here today.

June 23 Rebecca Parsons received $500. bursary.  Rebecca has worked with the golf course for the past 3 years.  Attending York University, 3rd year in Enviromental studies working towards Urban Planning.  Congratulations Rebecca.  Thanks Community in Bloom great tournament and a great way to give back.

Junior Golf

Lesson

Junior lessons start with Len Foran July 6 for Tuesday lessons.  July 8 for Thursday lessons and runs for 6 weeks. 

Signup took place March & April we're sorry we could not accomodate everyone.

If you are signed up come prepared at 9am with clubs, balls and tees.  Lessons will be given from Len and his helpers a few holes maybe played and lunch will be served.  Pickup by noon.

2010 Ryder Cup

Young Guys Rule

Ryder Cup with young guys vs old guys was held weekend of June 12 & 13.   2 teams each of 16 club members.  The young guys lead by Captain Glenn Bertrand and the old guys by Dave St.Louis. 

The young guys got off to a great start  in the Better Ball matches Sat. morning winning 5.5 to 2.5.

The alternate shots in the afternoon was the big surprise with Glenn not splitting one of his teams up for the afternoon matches.  This ended up being a very huge move for the captain.  Each of the young guys ended up dominating the alternate shot matches, winning them 6.5 to 1.5.  This was a big performance for the young boys because in years past the old guys usually come out big with a big hill to climb going into the Sunday singles matches.  The young guys were up 12 to 4 points.  The young boys were very impressed with their captain and all the dedication he put in to these matches.  With the uphill climb the single matches ended up being 9 to 7 for the young guys and the final score being 21 to 11 young guys.  MVP went to Rookie John Mcphail.

A Success

Cyril Moss & Jeff Romkey from Stonetown Physo demonstrated there Titleist Performance Institute Fitness Screen.  Each of the participants went away with a 1/2 hour at the Stonetown Physiotherapy indoor driving range.  We'll be watching the differernce on the course.

Wonderful time was had by all.  If all events in 2010 are this much fun we have alot to look forward to.  Jason did a wonderful job on the food.  Really showed his talent with the Hors D'oeuvre bar.

HST TAX

THIS WILL EFFECT GOLF PRICE

April 30, 2010 is the date the government has set to have memberships for 2010 purchased without paying the HST.  If invoices are paid from today until April 30, 2010 - golf courses will only need to charge GST(5%) on the amount owed. 

Invoices generated and payments received on or after May 1st, 2010 will need to prorate the additional HST taxes owed for golfing months of memberships beyond July 1, 2010.

From July 1, 2010 your invoice will be charged HST (13%) on amount owed.

Golf Touranements or any special events that occur before July 1, 2010 you will only be charged GST(5%) for green fees.  From July 1, 2010 and going forward you will be charged HST(13%).

Therefore what we suggest, buy your membership now, pay in 5 month installments starting Dec.  ending April, 2010 or pay in full before March 5 receive your free passes and only pay 5%.

Ladies Club Closing was held Sept. 22 with 48 shotgunning at 4:30 on a great day.  Jason supplied a wonderful meal to follow with Greek salad, stuffed chicken, rice and asparagrus, topped off with an apple crisp.  Thanks Jason for your wonderful meals all season long. 

Everyone went away a winner with gift certificates in hand.  Other great prizes were awarded as well including Golf bag, rain suit etc.

But the big yearly prize of "A Party for 20" was won this year by Linda Warren.  I'm sure she will enjoy her evening with friends.  Congrates Linda

Rick Fifield finishes 6th in GAO Investors Group Senior Mens Amatuer.

Total of 3 rounds were played posting scores of 77,76 and 71 for a +8 finish.  Placing Rick in 6th place overall at Twenty Valley Golf & Country Club Aug. 13, 2009.
