Hole #1: Curly's Marsh

Par 4

A pronounced dogleg left.  Your tee shot should be hit 175-200 yards, leaving a wedge across Trout Creek to the green.  Green slopes front-to-back, therefore a high approach shot will have the best chance of holding the putting surface.

BLUE – 329 yds
WHITE – 310 yds
RED – 285 yds
YELLOW – 285 yds

Handicap – 13

Hole #2: Moote's Revenge

Par 5

Tee off with your driver but avoid hitting right, as the ball could find Trout Creek.  Position off the tee is critical for your second shot, with Trout Creek on the right and a large pond on the left.  A great match play hole where players can make anything from an eagle to an X.

BLUE – 525 yds
WHITE – 515 yds
RED – 474 yds
YELLOW – 437 yds

Handicap – 3

Hole #3: Stage Fright

Par 4

The number one handicap hole and a fantastic par 4 from start to finish.  A forced carry over water is required off the men’s tee, varying between 100 to 175 yards.  A tee shot missing the fairway right can result in a difficult side-hill lie for the upward approach to the green.  The putting surface slopes significantly from back to front and right to left.

BLUE – 418 yds
WHITE – 428 yds
RED – 382 yds
YELLOW – 361 yds

Handicap – 1

Hole #4: Waghorn's View

Par 4

Hit the driver without fear, the fairway will serve you well. Pars are also common from the rough, provided that your ball manages to avoid the row of trees lining each side.  The hole plays its toughest when the north wind blows, bringing the pond short and left of the green very much into play.

BLUE – 351 yds
WHITE – 318 yds
RED – 301 yds
YELLOW – 268 yds

Handicap – 9

Hole #5: The Wall

Par 4

Swing freely with the driver on this straight-away par 4.  A strong drive can leave a wedge approach to the green and a legitimate chance for birdie.  From the tee, be mindful of the day’s pin location to setup the best angle for your second shot.

BLUE – 380 yds
WHITE – 353 yds
RED – 322 yds
YELLOW – 322 yds

Handicap – 17

Hole #6: Habermehl's Run

Par 5

This shorter par 5 is a true birdie opportunity for long hitters able to stripe their drive down the middle.  A straight drive is imperative, with OB lying to the right all the way from the tee block to the green.  There is a pond guarding the left-front of the green and a knob that protects the central portion of the green, making the second shot approach angle a difficult decision.

BLUE – 478 yds
WHITE – 449 yds
RED – 430 yds
YELLOW – 389 yds

Handicap – 7

Hole #7: Amen Corner

Par 3

Amen Corner is the first of of the par 3's.  The centre of the green is a good target on this hole, regardless of the pin location, as the pond in front is very much in play.  This hole becomes a monster from the back tees on days  that the hole faces directly into a southerly wind.

BLUE – 161 yds
WHITE – 136 yds
RED – 116 yds
YELLOW – 110 yds

Handicap – 15

Hole #8: The Descent

Par 5

The secret to playing this downhill par 5, and reaching the green in two, is to make sure your drive finds the rolling slope of the fairway and avoids the grove of trees that protects the green from the long approach.  The more prudent play is to lay-up down the left side, leaving a 60-100 yard approach.

BLUE – 542 yds
WHITE – 508 yds
RED – 484 yds
YELLOW – 438 yds

Handicap – 5

Hole #9: Black Hole

Par 3

This great par 3 was vastly improved in 2006.  The introduction of mounding, bunkers and a beautiful waterfall behind the green better define the target and create a spectacular backdrop.  The undulating putting surface makes for interesting reading and a steady touch.  Ensure that you take a moment to enjoy the view.

BLUE – 170 yds
WHITE – 129 yds
RED – 104 yds
YELLOW – 104 yds

Handicap – 11

Hole #10: The Rock

Par 4

The Rock, previously the starting hole of the original 'Ainslie Nine' course, is now a fitting hole 10.  Make a wise play by selecting a 3-wood or hybrid off the tee in order to find the short grass.  A bold drive, however, on this dogleg left could leave the long hitter with a short pitch to the green.  A missed fairway could easily result in bogey as the hole is lined with trees on both sides.

BLUE – 382 yds
WHITE – 362 yds
RED – 300 yds
YELLOW – 293 yds

Handicap – 16

Hole #11: Three Putt

Par 3

This hole is, without question, the toughest par on the course.  To simply call the putting surface a two-tiered green does not due this intricate green justice, as each tier features a subtle slope that is very difficult to judge.  Hitting this green in one shot is an accomplishment in itself, as the intimidation of OB to the right of the hole often results in shot pulled left.

BLUE – 210 yds
WHITE – 179 yds
RED – 165 yds
YELLOW – 139 yds

Handicap – 8

Hole #12: Trout Creek

Par 5

One of the most challenging but beautiful holes on the course requiries strategic consideration from tee to green.  Those confident enough to clear the creek 225 yards from the back tee may have an opportunity to reach the green in two if they hit the fairway.  Many players opt instead to lay-up short of the creek, then face the difficult decision of whether to attempt to clear both the creek and the river on their next shot or lay-up.

BLUE – 520 yds
WHITE – 510 yds
RED – 431 yds
YELLOW – 386 yds

Handicap – 4

Hole #13: Ainslie's Vista

Par 4

The layout of the 13th hole changed dramatically in 2006 with the introduction of a new two-tiered green directly behind the site of the original.  The new, narrower green encourages the player to take a more aggressive line off the tee in order to achieve the best angle and shortest distance to this challenging target.

BLUE – 397 yds
WHITE – 372 yds
RED – 307 yds
YELLOW – 282 yds

Handicap – 6

Hole #14: Skunk's Hollow

Par 3

This par 3 is one of the most deceptively challenging holes on the golf course.  Although the straight-away path to the green is free of obstacles, more often than not you will see balls pulled over a mound left of the green or pushed into the right-hand bunker.

BLUE – 196 yds
WHITE – 178 yds
RED – 158 yds
YELLOW – 143 yds

Handicap – 18

Hole #15: The Willow

Par 5

Magnificent hundred year old willow trees guard the inside of this dogleg right par 5.  The optimal drive will find the left-hand side of the fairway to create the best angle for your second shot.  A drive just missing the fairway right will be stymied by the willow and number of other trees.  Be mindful of the pin location on this deep putting surface; during 2006, Ted’s Pond was added long and left of the green, collecting the occasional errant ball.

BLUE – 549 yds
WHITE – 518 yds
RED – 424 yds
YELLOW – 395 yds

Handicap – 10

Hole #16: Lofty Brae

Par 3

On this par 3 16th hole, the same consideration should be taken as the professionals take in choosing their club at Augusta’s par 3 12th hole when competing in the Master's.  This 150-yard uphill hole is wonderfully unique:  a ball hit short will find the hill, making for a tricky up-and-down par.  Meanwhile, a ball hit over the green positions the player in an even tougher predicament.  Select your club carefully and commit to the shot.

BLUE – 154 yds
WHITE – 134 yds
RED – 108 yds
YELLOW – 108 yds

Handicap – 14

Hole #17: Steeples

Par 4

On a blank scorecard, you may be surprised to see this 400-yard par-4 as the number two stroke hole on the course; however, those who play the course frequently understand just how quietly difficult this hole can be.  Finding the fairway off the tee is vital, as it is all too easy to lose the ball to the right on this dogleg left.  If you are playing a run-up shot to the green, aim slightly left as the slope of the terrain runs left-to-right.

BLUE – 400 yds
WHITE – 372 yds
RED – 359 yds
YELLOW – 319 yds

Handicap – 2

Hole #18: Road Hole

Par 4

This short, finishing par 4 has ended many golfers' promising round with a high score.  With Queen Street stretching along the entire right-hand side of the hole, the prudent golfer will play for accuracy off the tee by landing the ball on the plateau in the fairway that lies 110-130 yards from the green.  This will provide a level stance for your approach to the green on the primarily uphill finishing hole.

BLUE – 323 yds
WHITE – 297 yds
RED – 297 yds
YELLOW – 237 yds

Handicap – 12
